For this week’s blog post we are delving into the mysterious work of video games! Surprisingly, they have amazing soundtracks which are great to get lost in and help your wellbeing. Below are just a handful of some amazing examples, so if you don’t find anything you like get onto YouTube and search for some of your favourite games, ask your children for some games to start with if you need inspiration!
Skyrim

Up first is a video game classic. Released in 2011, Skyrim is the 5th game installment in the Elderscrolls game franchise. In this game you design your own character and roam across a mysterious world of adventure, danger and opportunity. The examples below are from the official game soundtrack by Jeremy Soule.

Minecraft

Next up is a game I presume many people have heard of, Minecraft! This game was actually created back in 2009 and still is one of the most played games in the world! Minecrfat is a sandbox type building game, where you can build basically anything you want! The soundtrack for this game (Volume Alpha) is by a mysteriously named composer, C418 – enjoy!

The Last of Us

The next game on our list for today is The Last of Us. This game was released in 2013 and is based around a post-apocalyptic world. You played the main character Joel, who is tasked with escorting a teenage girl Ellie across the United States. I won’t spoil the rest of the plot, so if you are intrigued I would definitely recommend playing it or watch some of the many YouTubers play it to experience the amazing story writing! The examples below are from the official soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla.

Battlefield 1

Last on our list is potentially my favourite ever video game soundtrack, Battlefield 1. Battlefield 1, confusingly, is a game from the popular battlefield franchise centred around the first world war. It was released in 2016 and the soundtrack was composed by Johan Soderqvist and Patrik Andren.
