The Wellbeing Choir is like a regular choir, with a greater focus on health and wellbeing. Studies show that singing greatly improves our emotional, mental, physical and social wellbeing, with a decrease in stress, depression and anxiety.
The Wellbeing Choir aims to give our community the opportunity to experience these wonderful health benefits through singing whilst helping us to feel good and have fun. It is fully inclusive, friendly, relaxed and suitable for all ages and abilities.
Although the Wellbeing Choir is run by Nicola Betts, it has its roots in the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Arts Team. Here is the link to the Hospital’s website for more information – The Wellbeing Choir at York Hospital

Before Covid-19, our usual meeting place was in the beautiful Chapel at York Hospital, located on the main corridor near Junction 5. Currently, the Wellbeing Choir is meeting weekly on Zoom. Our focus is on building a wonderful repertoire of upbeat, heart-warming and uplifting songs for us to enjoy both in the everyday as well as in preparation for a time when we can meet together again in person.
