Palisander tribute to our staff

Look out for something very special to enjoy on the CultureClub.Social website. Award-winning recorder quartet Palisander have performed regularly in York and most recently have worked in partnership with the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to say a very special thank you to NHS staff for all they’ve done throughout the pandemic. They decided to stage a musical tribute, recording a special video performance at York’s National Centre for Early Music when they were this year’s guest artists for the prestigious NCEM Young Composers Award. Palisander play a wide range of music on recorders of all different shapes and sizes and as they can’t be there in person they put together a varied programme of calming and uplifting music for patients and staff to enjoy both online and on hospital Radio.  Wonderful music, guaranteed to lift your spirits in the most unexpected and enjoyable way!

Palisander

Palisander are regular favourites on radio, including BBC Radio 3. The group’s album, Beware the Spider!, received a 4-star review from BBC Music Magazine, while Classic FM’s a live performance film of Palisander, received over 4.6 million views. Palisander are especially keen on their regular family concerts and workshops, with their educational project Recorder Revolution! bringing inspiring, interactive performances to schools and music venues across England. They are part of EEEmerging (Emerging European Ensemble), a large scale European co-operation project promoting the emergence of new talent in early music.
