For my first post, I thought it might be nice to share a few tracks I’m enjoying at the moment. You will see a combination of some new finds and old favourites, but should hopefully all be nice, easy listens! Feel free to dip in and out of these tracks, and any thoughts or feedback are more than welcome. I hope you enjoy!
Into White – Cat Stevens
Cat Stevens sound-tracked any family camping holiday as I was growing up, his songs always brightened up a cold and rainy journey. Into White is a beautifully written piece with some mysterious sounding lyrics, and I find a lot of comfort in its peacefulness.
Blue Monday – Hannah Peel
This cover of New Order’s Blue Monday has a completely different feel to the original track, with Peel really making this her own. Using a music box and layers of vocal harmony, a lovely texture is created for this piece that you can’t help but get wrapped up in.
3 Is A Magic Number – Embrace
Some may say three’s a crowd, but in this case 3 Is A Magic Number. I rediscovered this track a little while ago and was immediately taken back to listening to this with my brothers as a child. I remember hearing this song for the first time on one of my brother’s personal CD player in the back of our old car. This feel good tune was a real earworm for me as a kid and it helped me learn my three times tables so I can’t complain!
Clear The Area – Imogen Heap
There are a few songs I can’t stop playing on repeat at the moment, and Clear The Area is definitely one of them. Something about Heap’s music gives a real feeling of escapism and you can feel the love she puts into producing each track she releases.
Blue Ridge Mountains – Fleet Foxes
I have found myself listening to a lot of Fleet Foxes over the past few months and am constantly mesmerised by their sound. Blue Ridge Mountains is a great example of their beautifully folky instrumentation and vocal harmonies – definitely a favourite of mine!
Thank you for reading and listening through this week’s post. If you have any suggestions or feedback to give, please feel free to leave a comment – it would be much appreciated!
