Artist looking for staff to feature in mural!

Local artist, Emma Garness, has been commissioned by National Rail to design and paint a mural on the railway footbridge close to York Hospital. The artist is looking for two members of York Hospital staff to feature in her work!

For a chance to have your portrait painted on the footbridge as part of Emma’s mural please send a portrait photograph of yourself (face/side on as in the design) to art@york.nhs.uk Please use ‘Mural’ as the subject and let us know your name, role and department. This opportunity is open to anyone working in any role at York Hospital.

Both sides of the bridge will be painted with the same design but with a different staff portrait on each side. The leaves and bark depicted are from ‘black willow bark’ which is a natural source of aspirin. The ornate design in the middle references the buckles from the belts of sisters with colours associated with the NHS uniform.

Weather permitting Emma will start work on Saturday 13th March and spend the next four or five days creating the mural. We hope to have photos of the finished work up on the website to show you soon.
